New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson has been named as one of the stars to grace the cover of the popular game franchise.
Zion has just played a total of 19 NBA games in his short rookie career delayed by injuries.
He will appear on the Next Gen version of the game such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox series X.
It was earlier announced that Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard would be on the regular edition of the game.
The news was tweeted by the official Twitter account of NBA 2K21 on the 1st of this month.
Dream Come Through
He had always dreamt of this one day and one year after it has turned into a reality.
“It’s one of those emotions I’m still processing,” Williamson told The Undefeated’s Marc J. Spears in a video interview.
“It’s a dream come true. At those AAU tournaments, you’re looking at the cover thinking, ‘That’s gonna be me.’ For it to happen that fast, it’s a huge honor.”
Williamson had earlier been featured to show of PS5 new graphics.
Williamson said 2K takes him back to his days on the AAU circuit and all the hours he put in playing the game.
“It’s always been a fun game, especially when you’re with your friends at AAU tournaments,” Williamson said.
“It’s nothing but 2K, 2K tournaments and whoever thinks they’re the best. Sometimes it’s meeting up with other teams at the same hotel and seeing how far your 2K skills carry.”
The former Duke star was announced on Wednesday morning joining Lillard and the third and final start will be announced on Thursday morning.
Zion Williamson has averaged 23,6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game in his rookie season.
The New Orleans Pelicans are set to travel to Orlando for the restart of the NBA season.
He becomes the third player from the Pelicans Organization to grace the cover joining future Hall of Famers Chris Paul in 2K8 and Anthony Davis in 2K16.
