Who will make the top four: Chelsea lose as United moves to third

Who will qualify for the European Champions League

Who will make it to the Champions League?

In the past few weeks, the above has been the question in the mouths of fans and analysts alike.

Liverpool and Manchester City have already secured their places in the Champions League. Third and fourth will take the remaining places.

Chelsea, Leicester City and Manchester United will enter the final day with a match to spur them to Europe’s elite competition, the UEFA Champions League.

The odds now suggest the struggle for the third and fourth places lies within the grasp of Manchester United, Chelsea and Leicester City.

Leicester City who lost to Tottenham in the weekend host United in a final-day thriller.

United must avoid defeat to guarantee being in the UCL

And if Chelsea wins, Chelsea will qualify, but if they lose at home to Wolves, then both Leicester and United will qualify.

However, Leicester City only stands to qualify if they draw and Chelsea lose.

Meanwhile Manchester United on Wednesday night sat 1-1 draw with West Ham.

While Liverpool played out a 5-3 thriller to come out in style to defeat Chelsea in their last home game.

Manchester United vs West Ham

After Leicester defeat at Tottenham, Manchester United who had an opportunity to move up with three points to third in a win against David Moyes’ West Ham, rued the chance as they drew 1-1.

Manchester United went into the game knowing they needed to bounce back to their FA Cup exit in the hands of Chelsea.

Manchester United dominated most of the game in the first-half.

The opening minutes saw a struggling West Ham sit-back to defend, with the Red Devils carving out some good opportunities.

In a brilliant play from the left flank, Marcus Rashford sent in a swervy shot from 30-yards which was too close for Fabianski; before Greenwood’s shot the was blocked by Ogbonna

With the game entering into 45-minutes, De Gea who hadn’t been involved in any save, saw a penalty from Antonio in the back of his net.

A free-kick from Declan Rice was smashed directly at Pogba who stuck up his hands to guard his face.

Despite Pogba’s reaction and cower, a VAR check confirmed the handball and a spot-kick was awarded.

Michail Antonio took the spot-kick, sending De Gea the wrong way for his sixth goal in the last six games.

United started the second-half in a dragging fashion but had an equalizer from teenage sensation Mason Greenwood in the 51st minute.

The United wonderkid who has been in a great form, had a neatly executed one-two in the 18-yard box with Anthony Martial before driving the ball through the first bar into the net.

The goal brought his tally to 17th for the season, equalling Wayne Rooney’s tally at similar age.

Nevertheless, despite being outplayed by West Ham in the second-half, the game ended a draw with West Ham surviving relegation.

Liverpool vs Chelsea

Chelsea entered the game with confidence after seeing off Manchester United in the FA cup semi-final, with the hunger for Champions League qualification.

Naby Keita’s long-range shot and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s stunning dipping free-kick set Liverpool on its way to a 18th home league win out of 19.

Chelsea’s poor defending allowed Gini Wijnaldum to grab a third from a corner before half-time.

Few minutes later, France International Olivier Giroud pulled one back from an Allison Becker parried effort from Willian.

But in the 55th minute, Roberto Firmino scored the fourth goal as he scored his first goal in Anfield for the season.

The goal came from a well executed cross from Alexander-Arnold which found the head of Firmino.

The introduction of Christian Pulisic who has found his form ever since the return, brought in a high spirit for Chelsea as they pressed hard for an equalizer.

The pressure and substitution paid-off, as Pulisic setup an unmarked Tammy Abraham to reduce the margin to 4-2.

Within few minutes, Pulisic got one back for himself as he reduced the margin to 4-3.

Jurgen Klopp with few minutes to spare brought in Curtis Jones, Minamino and Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Liverpool cemented their lead from an Oxlade-Chamberlain goal to increase the hurt and pressure on Chelsea.

However, a 5-3 victory before receiving the Premier League trophy was an entertaining way for Liverpool to sign off from Anfield for the season.

The win was a stunning reminder of why Liverpool are one of the most entertaining sides in the 2019/20 EPL season.
